A gaggle of geese, a nest of rabbits... #8

.. a shitload of postcards.

When I was at school in New Zealand in the 1950s/60s, one of the annual school treats was a trip to the Bridgeway movie theatre on Northcote Point.

Usually a National Geographic film with the notoriously staged mouse:snake/gazelle:cheetah confrontations, sometimes Jacques Cousteau and "Calypso", occasionally (for the 6th form English class) a black and white Russian production of "Hamlet" (powerlines in the distance included at no extra charge).

I have no idea who was responsible for sneaking the short film on Alexander Calder into the programme (Dougal Page, probably), but I was hooked fror life.

Imagine then my joy when I entered a room at the Hirschhorn Museum in Washington DC FILLED with Calder mobiles.
